Headline Malaysia

Inspired by PiiS, the idea started in 2007 to get all the latest news from Malaysia in one place so that readers do not have to search everywhere. This idea gave birth to Headline Malaysia in 2008. Headline Malaysia aims to be the premier one-stop centre for Malaysia’s latest news updates. It aggregates news from major newspapers in Malaysia for the readers. Headline Malaysia also features its own editorial.

The Star

First publish on 9th September 1971, The Star was a regional newspaper based in the state of Penang, in the north of Peninsular Malaysia. On 3rd January 1976, The Star went national with the setting up of an office in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.

Today, under the Star Publications (Malaysia) Bhd, The Star and its sister paper, Sunday Star, commands the highest English-language newspaper circulation and readers per copy in Malaysia.

New Straits Times

Deriving from the name of the Straits of Malacca, The Straits Times was established on 15th July 1845 covering the then British Malaya and Singapore and later Malaysia. When Singapore left Malaysia in 1965, the oldest English-language newspaper in Malaysia was reestablished as the New Straits Times while The Straits Times continued publication in Singapore.

Today, The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad publishes New Straits Times in Malaysia while Singapore Press Holdings Ltd publishes The Straits Times in Singapore. New Straits Times together with it sister paper, New Sunday Times, ranks second in readers per copy for English-language newspaper in Malaysia.

BERNAMA

The Malaysian National News Agency or BERNAMA in short, is a statutory body set up in 1967 by an Act of Parliament. It began its operations in May 1968 and is managed by a Board of Governors appointed by the King.

Subscribers of BERNAMA are mostly Malaysian newspapers and electronics media as well as other international news agencies. BERNAMA’s news channels are BERNAMA TV, BERNAMA Radio24, BERNAMA SMS and BERNAMA.com.

The Malaysian Insider

The Malaysian Insider is an unconventional newspaper. The idea of the internet newspaper was started by Png Hong Kwang and Sreedhar Subramaniam to offer open view on happenings and personalities in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Insider aims to promote transparency, good character and professionalism towards building a great nation.

Malaysiakini

Malaysiakini is among the few independent media organisations in Malaysia without linkage to any political party or commercial interest. Launched on 20th November 1999, Malaysiakini.com is a subscription based website offering daily online content.

Malaysiakini received various awards and accolades including from the International Press Institute, Reporters Sans Frontiers, Committee to Protect Journalists, Asiaweek and Businessweek.
