Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is also the UMNO President had indicated that Barisan Nasional may not contest the Penanti by-election if there is a consensus among all component parties. The Star had also reported on Sunday that many Barisan Nasional component party leaders agreed that the coalition should not to field a candidate in the Penanti by-election describing it as a political game of the opposition.

However, former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, disagrees and said Barisan Nasional should contest in the Penanti seat. On his side is Datuk Seri S. Samy Velu, MIC’s President.

Let the final decision decides if the current government is the puppet of Tun Dr. Mahathir or not.
